Preparation for the regional industrial fair in Augsburg
After a break due to the pandemic, the FMB-Süd will be opening its doors in Augsburg on 11 May 2022. As shown by the up-to-date directory of exhibitors, the fair will portray a wide spectrum of the supply industry for mechanical engineering. This is exactly the concept of the two FMB shows in Bad Salzuflen and Augsburg. The organisers have yet again succeeded in securing the cluster Mechatronics & Automation as the official partner.
It was about time, too: It is precisely in an industry involving complex projects and products in need of explanation that trade shows play an essential role. This is where the sector can meet to exchange ideas and knowledge, establish new contacts, and seize suggestions to improve day-to-day business operations.
The FMB-Süd, which will be taking place on 11th and 12th May 2022, will soon provide the manufacturing companies based on the technological axis of the south with this opportunity that has been missing for some time now. Everything has been done to make the visitors’ stay as simple and safe as possible: Admission is free, parking spaces are available outside the trade show entrance, and the certified hygiene concept does justice to the claim “The safest place to meet”.
The organisers expect more exhibitors to register several weeks prior to the start of the fair. Christian Enßle, Head of Cluster FMB: “This is exactly how it was in the autumn of 2021 before the FMB in Bad Salzuflen: Many exhibitors keep an eye on the situation and decide at short notice whether they will take part in the event. We are aware of and responsive to this consideration, and since we offer a complete package comprising furniture, lighting, catering services, etc., there are few preparations that still need to be made. The exhibitors can therefore book their stands on the spur of the moment.”
A glance at three companies which have already decided to take part: Taktomat GmbH, an exhibitor from the very start, enjoys a good reputation across the entire country when it comes to high-quality components and solutions for automation technology. Some of its products being showcased will include rotary indexers, lathes and linear transfer systems.
In addition to classical automation technology (robotics, CAD, PLC programming…), the enterprise STL Steuerungs-Technik-Leuthe GmbH focuses on the digitalisation of machines via the “Internet of Things – IoT”. Their software assists SMEs in accessing machine and process data from anywhere in real time, in responding to alert notifications immediately and in process optimisation.
Rose & Krieger, a company specialised in linear, profile, bonding and module technology and based in East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL), will be presenting their entire portfolio in a show truck right outside the exhibition entrance.
The organisers are delighted that the Technology Cluster “Mechatronics & Automation”, which has been part of “Bayern Innovativ” – concerned with the promotion of innovation and the transfer of technology and knowledge in Bavaria – since early 2021, will be continuing their partnership with the FMB. Christian Enßle: “The Cluster comprising some 220 corporate members is extremely well networked in the whole of Bavaria. The Cluster Management recommends the members to participate in the FMB-Süd and will also play an active role in designing the programme of lectures – one more reason to pay a visit to the fair!”

New date: 11 and 12 May 2022
The FMB-Süd, which was scheduled to take place on 16 and 17 February 2022, has now been pushed back to 11 and 12 May 2022. Christian Enßle, Head of Cluster FMB: “The exhibitors need planning security and such reliability simply does not exist right now. Events held in the extremely difficult Corona situation in Bavaria are subject to strict requirements and conditions. In the current situation, it is not possible to implement a trade show with any prosects of success. Nobody knows what the situation will be like in the middle of February. This decision was a difficult one for us, but by doing so, we have brought clarity to the matter – and we hope this will enable us to lay the foundations for a really good trade show in May.”
This necessary postponement is all the more annoying as the FMB – the supplier show for mechanical engineering held in Bad Salzuflen in the middle of November was a complete success from the point of view of the exhibitors and visitors. Many exhibiting companies had already taken the decision to participate in the FMB-Süd, however, the spread of infection in the southern half of Germany ultimately deterred them from making a binding reservation. Christian Enßle: “Of course, we understand this decision. For this reason, we picked out a new date together with Augsburg Exhibition Centre in good time, which promises all those concerned a higher degree of planning security.”
The trade show company will take advantage of the additional lead time in order to
attract further exhibitors from the mechanical engineering supply industry to the FMB-Süd. In turn, the exhibiting companies gain additional time for visitor acquisition, and in the spring the starting conditions should be significantly more favourable for paying a visit to a trade show than in February. When asked about this decision, the majority of the exhibitors responded in a very positive manner. Ultimately, as remarked by Christian Enßle, all those concerned are interested in achieving a successful trade show in every respect – particularly after the long “lean period” with restricted contact and the opportunity to engage in discussions: “A really good fair in May is preferable to intensive planning “on spec” for a trade show which could still have to be cancelled just before it is due to open.”

FMB-Süd - the supplier show for mechanical engineering 2022 back in Augsburg
After the break this year due to Coronavirus, FMB-Süd will be presenting its successful trade show concept once again at Augsburg Exhibition Centre on 16th and 17th February 2022. This specialised fair presents solutions in the field of mechanical and design engineering for the catchment area catering to regional trade visitors.
The exhibitors of the FMB-Süd will showcase the entire value-added chain of mechanical engineering according to the motto “Mechanical engineering – here’s how!” – ranging from semi-finished products to machine parts and assembly groups to automation right through to customised industrial services. Design engineers, developers and decision-makers from the field of mechanical and plant engineering and their application industries will find partners at FMB-Süd with ideas to solve their problems, who offer tried-and-tested products, field-tested applications and innovative concepts.
The focus of the trade show lies on personal contacts and discussions. As a meeting point for the sector, the FMB-Süd brings together the key players of the region in targeted fashion. Christian Enßle, Head of Cluster FMB at Easyfairs GmbH: “In these post-corona times, it is particularly important to quickly enable technical suppliers to engage in constructive discussions with their customers again. The development of regional supply chains is gaining in importance. The FMB-Süd provides the region on the “technological hub of the south” with a professional platform for such development.”
Taking part in the show is made particularly easy for the exhibitors. The organiser Easyfairs GmbH offers a “care-free package” in Augsburg to enable companies to organise their participation swiftly and easily. All of the exhibitors present their products and services with an identical stand construction and are able to focus on the essence of the event: to address the questions of the visitors and offer them customised solutions.
The business environment in and around Augsburg offers the ideal conditions for this: a dynamic industrial region, distinguished by global players such as KUKA, MAN, manroland or MT Aerospace and innovative SMEs. Augsburg is conveniently situated in Germany’s strongest economic region between Stuttgart and Munich and also in the direct catchment area to Ulm, Aalen, Ingolstadt and Memmingen. The Schwaben region is characterised by a disproportionately high number of companies operating in the manufacturing industry. This means: The FMB-Süd is coming at the right time and taking place in the right location.
